So, today I had a somewhat interesting adventure. I was just minding my own business at my computer at work, when Tyler (the guy I share an office with) yelled from the breakroom area, "Jeff, come see this quick!" Now, there's usually not much to see at our workplace so I figured that I'd better come quick so I don't miss it.
I ran into the other room just in time to see a snake slither across the floor. I've seen several snakes around the outside so it must have just slithered its way in one time when the door was open or something.
Well, naturally we caught it. This is what it looked like.
Sorry the images aren't super clear. I didn't have my camera since I was at work, so these were taken with my phone.
Anyway, naturally since we had a snake it was important for us to have some fun with it. We put it in a box and went and handed the box to Mike, another one of our coworkers. Upon receipt of the box his first action was to shake it. We told him that was not recommended but he should open it. He opened it and shrieked, "Oh My Gosh!" and promptly held the box out for us to take it away. It would have been cooler if he threw the box, but that would have been sadder for the snake.
We tried giving the snake as a gift to another coworker but when he opened the box he just said, "oh cool, a snake." After that we just let him go outside.
Of course, the whole thing was not nearly as cool as the time we put a gopher in someone's desk drawer, but that's a whole different story.

Don't you DARE EVER give me a snake in any form, package or anything else you can think of that has anything to do with creepy crawlers! I am not a fan of this "joke" if you couldn't tell.
ReplyDeleteI love you!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I think I'd have a heart attack if I saw a snake where I work, eat, sleep...well, if I saw a snake ANYWHERE except in a cage...even a snake that size! :( I agree with Robyn. NEVER give me a snake either!
ReplyDeletewow...that is one BIG hand....
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience, giving a snake as a surprise present never turns out well for you or the snake.
(sigh) Now I have to defend myself... :)
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I resent the term "shriek" that you used! There was no high-pitched noises made, I can assure you that. And second, I was engaged in an online, streamed meeting at my computer, so the furthest thing from my mind was "Hey, there might be a snake in there." I kind of just wanted to open the box and get the surprise over with so I could return to the online conference I was viewing.
Good times, though, I must admit.
Won-Won is very opposed to snakes. If you ever get the opportunity, you should do it to him! Only I want to be there. Or at least tape it! lol.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that we don't have snakes hereat my work... but we do have a bug problem. Lots of spiders and roly poly (or pill bugs or whatever they are) roaming free. And at my house I have pincher bugs. It's weird...
I just noticed that you have big bang theory on your wish list. I LOVE THAT SHOW!! Costco had the first season, so we bought that and are anxiously awaiting the second. It's so funny, but I also feel so smart when I understand the science/math stuff they talk about. We even dvr the reruns! lol
ReplyDeleteI'm learning soooo much about you on your blog. Remember the old saying "Beware of geeks bearing gifts"...oh that was Greeks and you definitely don't qualify as a geek so in this case you are safe. But SNAKES! Yikes.
ReplyDeleteYou know how much I love snakes-- I love mice even more. No live gifts okay? (My cat gives me enough of those!)
