When I was a small child I had a hatred for Costco because it was built right on top of the cool field where we would go and pretend we were being chased by velociraptors in the tall grass. In later years I realized that it maybe wasn't such a bad thing that Costco displaced the velociraptors. But, yesterday, I was thoroughly convinced.
We (some work buddies and I) have a weekly tradition of going to eat lunch at Costco on Tuesdays. Whenever someone messes with Costco Tuesday I usually get cranky at them. Well, this week I was the one to mess with Costco Tuesday and they were cranky at me. What they didn't realize was that I was inspired. Since we didn't go on Tuesday we decided to go on Friday. What a joyful occasion it was. The above "Super Demo" sign was our first clue that happiness was about to fill our lives. Apparently they were promoting food that people should buy for the super bowl. They had tables and tables and tables of free samples.
My friend Mike is here to share his feelings on the joy that he experienced.
All in all, I would say it was a Costco miracle. I don't even regret losing the velociraptors. Although, it's possible they're still there somewhere.
Mmmm...costco dogs! Almost as delish as IKEA dogs. Why is costco so blue??? Was there a dance rave there also?
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you have found joy in Costco! I had a fun Costco Thursday and I didn't even have to go anywhere. They came to us and had a whole bunch of free food! Also, since my lunch is the last one they let us have all the leftovers! I had cookies, muffins, fruit snacks, mango salsa (ok so I didn't really eat that but it was there) and I even got an eyeglass cleaning kit. Costco is truely amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat is truly a beautiful sight. I'm glad you were inspired to go on Friday so you could take part in that wonderful event!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad I missed the miracle day at Costco! I've been thinking recently that it'd be wonderful to eat lunch at Costco once a week. And, I loved your interview of Mike.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry I missed it--I went there but the demos were done. It was such a sad moment to miss but I am grateful that I was able to experience it through you. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteSo I had a brilliant idea the very next day...go to Costco again! Sure enough, they had Super Demo day again! That's right, I had two days in a row of free Costco samples for lunch.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my wife and I bought those uncooked tortillas we sampled and ate them yesterday in the form of tacos. They are delish!
I still miss the field that Costco destroyed. Maybe if I was there for a Costco miracle then I can be converted, but until then I will miss my adventures in the field.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed yourself! They rarely have really good samples when I go to Costco, but maybe I just don't go at the right time. You should take me with you sometime!
