A Tradition Unlike Any Other

I am a mean husband.  I have a very important tradition.  The problem is that my wife doesn't like this tradition.  But, I love this tradition and so I demand of my wife that she be uncomfortable for around 45 seconds on an annual basis.

But there are aspects of the tradition that I don't make her participate in.  I don't make her be at all involved in taking a yard that looks like this:

and making it look like this:

But here's the part I do make her participate in:

That's right, it's not ethical or moral to rake a giant pile of leaves and not jump in it.  With my meanness and cruelty I not only demand that she participate but I require that she have fun.  She should be grateful though, at least I don't demand this level of awesomeness:

  1. You are so mean. I'm sure it hurts you more than it hurts her though. I'm sure when she grows up she will thank you.

  2. Yes you are mean, but I guess I can handle it for 45 seconds. I am just happy to help you feel better about raking leaves. If it is the only way it will get done then I am ok with the jumping part, even if I think it is gross.

  3. I sure know a lot of kids that like it. We're supposed to become like them, right? BTW I am glad that you found my blog, too. And I'm glad that the cat lady quote struck a chord with you:)

  4. Can you please be mean to me next year and make me play in a big pile of leaves?

  5. SO AWESOME. I want my husband to force me to do these kinds of things.

  6. the leaves at my apartment had too many dead crab-apples mixed in with them. Everyone should have their limits, and that is mine.

  8. I am surprised you didn't make her sit there while you completely covered her with leaves:) How many times did you bury Kloey or Justin or MariEllen or anyone else that happened to be in the neighborhood?

  9. I love leaves! A pre-Crestwood roommate and I went and raked leaves in the neighborhood we were living in. We had a few large bags of leaves which of course we could not just throw away. So we created a barrier around the door of our home teachers and dumped the leaves in. (Kinda like what one oh fort did to you all, but more successfully.) We hoped that the leaves would fall in when they opened the door, but they were still wet, so they opened the door to a leaf wall...fun times....
