The Birthday Girl

Today is Robyn's birthday. One year ago, we weren't even dating yet. We were pretty good friends and we spent alot of time together but I had not actually asked her on a date yet. (Our first date was in December though. I took her to my work's company Christmas party. This year she gets to go as my wife.) On her birthday last year I didn't even know it was her birthday, but I saw her at FHE. The activity was to learn some different kind of dances, so I went up and asked if she would be my partner. (Not realizing at the time that she would later be my eternal partner.)

This year was alot better than that, even though she was sick, we were able to do some fun things. I gave her her present this morning before I left for work. It was a set of DVDs that had all 7 seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. So she was able to stay home and watch Star Trek all day long. Then this evening she was feeling a little better so I took her out to dinner at her favorite pizza place and then took her to The Forgotten Carols. All in all it was a blast, but the best part was getting to make her happy on her special day. She's truly special to me so I wanted her to feel that today.

I just wanted to say a little about how great she is. Sorry to those of you who don't like my mushy posts. This will be a short but mushy tribute so those who are not a fan may want to look away.

Robyn always puts others before her. She always makes sure that all my needs are taken care of before she thinks of herself. She does the same for all those around her. I'm always impressed by how much she truly cares about the kids she teaches.

Robyn always makes me laugh. She has such a great sense of humor. And, of course, if I don't laugh at something that I was supposed to, she makes sure that I know my role by saying, "I'm funny!"

Robyn has such a powerful spirit. She always wants to do what's right. She's willing to do what needs to be done regardless of what it takes.

I could go on forever. She's just amazing. Robyn, I hope you had a great birthday! I love you!

  5. Robyn is marvelous! And I'm lucky enough to have known her since she was born - hey I knew her in utero! And of course, my favorite quote ever of hers was, "I'm smart, I just can't access it." But we know better than that!
