My Hobbit Obsession

Today is an important day in history.  Today is the day that I see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey for the first time.  (I know it comes out tomorrow, but that's for normal people.)

A month or so ago, when it was announced that Disney had purchased the rights to Star Wars, and they were making 3 more movies, naturally I shouted for joy.  Robyn asked me if that meant that I would be obsessing about Star Wars for the next few years.  I assured her that I was an equal opportunity obsesser and that I would not neglect obsessing about The Hobbit.

So, today, I am keeping that promise.  I promise to think about nothing but The Hobbit until the movie is over.  I will also continue obsessing about the next 2 movies until I have seen all 3.

Also, I would like to write my review of the movie before I see it.

I loved it.  It was the best 3 hours of my life.

The End.

P.S. My favorite character is Smaug.  But I don't think he'll be in this movie, since  the second one is the Desolation of Smaug.

  1. I am so torn about this movie. We started reading the book to our four-year old in preparation, and I was hoping the film would be PG. Now, it isn't only PG-13 but it will be three movies? based on the Hobbit? It seems so greedy to me. They don't care about making a good family film based on the book, they just care about squeezing as much money out of us as possible.

However, the movie looks awesome and I love the story and the cast. I think I have decided to see it, but to wait until opening weekend is over so that they don't get my money right away.

    1. Ya, I was concerned about it being 3 movies as well. But, I've made peace with it. They are drawing from other books such as the Lord of the Ring Appendices as well as the Tales of Middle Earth. So there will be a lot more story than just what is in the book.

I'm totally fine with 3 movies as long as they're not just making up stuff. I felt like Peter Jackson did a good enough job on the LOTR that I am willing to trust him on this.

Either way, I hope you enjoy it when you decide to see it.

  2. I'm glad you liked it too. I just wish it wasn't so scary.

  3. So Hannah and I went to see it a couple of days ago. We really liked it. But we went to a theater that had shows for $4 before noon and I decided it would be worth it to go to a nicer theater with softer seats for $2 more. My backside was so tired by the end of the show.
